This Wednesday's class, we had something different again! We had a lunch meeting in the classroom together, which I haven't tried before even in high school. It feels so nice to have meals with so many classmates because I always think that enjoying food is one of the happy things in life, and it is even nicer when it is done with friends! And that's why I always date my friends out for meals (even when they all said that they are on a diet haha!). We also had several performances by Jill, Rebecca, Eric, Angela and the girls' dance group. They were amazing, and once again I have to say that my classmates were soooooooo talented!
While we were having our lunch, we watched the renowned movie "Frozen". Even we have sung "Let It Go" (the theme song of the movie) for so many times, many of us actually haven't seen the movie and weren't quite able to link the lyrics to the story. Before watching the movie, I have already heard that it was very different from the other Disney princess movies and which made it so successful and liked by the public. Those movies are all about princesses waiting for their princes-charming and they are love stories in general; but in "Frozen", it is completely different. "Frozen" is about Princess Elsa and Anna's self-empowerment, courage, their sisterly love and Elsa's adventure of letting go her fear. One thing I found very funny and which I love a lot was the sentence by Elsa and Kristoff: "You can't marry someone you just met", which is exactly what other Disney movies have been doing!!! I reckoned that those story plots were absolutely silly since I have grown up. Despite it being a little unrealistic, it is quite romantic still... who doesn't love a little fairy tale dream right haha?

When Elsa sings the song "Let It Go" when she is all along on the snow mountain, she is trying to let go of her anxiety and fear. It may seem that she is self-confident and strong at the end of the song, but as soon as she sees Anna, she starts panicking again which says that she hasn't quite changed yet. From this point, I can see that although self-empowerment is important, support and encouragement from others are equally important. Yes, Elsa thinks she has let go after she sings the song, but what actually helps her letting go her fear is the love and support from Anna.
Just like us, we may often do some self-talk or self-reflection to empower ourselves and give ourselves energy. I cannot deny that they are very powerful and are something we should definitely do, but sometimes, these may not be enough, and which is why we need friends! In "Frozen", Elsa has Anna and Anna has Kristoff and the cute Olaf. Olaf the little snowman is another very inspiring character indeed. He doesn't know that a snowman melts in summer and he has fantastic desire for summer, which is very funny and makes me laugh a lot. He also says one very heart-warming sentence: "Some people are worth melting for" when he tries to help the ill Anna. In our lives, we meet many people and very often we offer help, but for some people, you know you will be willing to sacrifice a big part of yourself, even to the extend of hurting yourself in order to help them. Most probably they are our family, best friends and all our loved ones. They are the ones who "are worth melting for" and having them in life is truly A BLESSING.
