In this Wednesday's class, we watched a video about a young girl called Malala, who fights bravely for education for women. I was quite impressed by what she did and so decided to dig a little deeper on the Internet.
I was astonished by what I've found. When I watched the video in class, I thought Malala was more or less 20, but she's actually only 16! What's more surprising is that she was only 11 when she wrote about the situations in Swat under the Taliban rule. Many were afraid to write as they feared the revenge of the Taliban, but Malala didn't. She stepped out to fight for their right - their most basic human right to learn and to enjoy freedom. Surely, no great person works alone. She has her father who is a great man too. Under such horrible situations, he still encouraged his daughter to go to school, and even recommended her to write blogs about life in Swat under the Taliban because he knew her daughter's words were powerful, which could make the world know that something's wrong and which should be fixed. In 2013, she was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, which makes her the youngest nominee ever, and this year, she was nominated again.
I genuinely appreciate and admire what Malala has done. She has made a change - she aroused social attention to the problem of terrorism affecting even school girls, and the need to fix this situation so that girls can attend school and people's life can be secured. She's a true leader who inspires vision and leads to change in people's life. Honestly, I don't think I can be anything like her - so brave, determined, articulate, so fearless. Compared to her, I am so timid. I don't even voice my opinion in classes very often, but now being inspired, I hope I could be more expressive to share more. After all, it won't hurt to speak, I believe!
Lastly, I wish for world peace! Not just between terrorists and people, or countries, but between everyone. People should stop being cruel and hurt each other. No more child... woman... anyone should be threatened or treated inhumanely. Let's be less cruel, more peaceful <3
"This world would be a whole lot better, if we just made an effort to be less horrible to one another. If we took just 5 minutes to recognize each other's beauty instead of attacking each other for our differences; that's not hard and it's really and easier and better way to live and ultimately it saves life." - Ellen Page
