In this Wednesday's class, many of our classmates did the LEAP. Our group didn't do the LEAP on that day, but I still enjoyed a happy time receiving the different delicate and sweet little gifts from my classmates. There were candies, inspiring notes and files, all of which were the outcome of the hard preparation by our classmates. I could imagine how much time and effort they had spent on preparing so many gifts. Thank you all so much!
Here I would like to take the chance to share with you the recap of our LEAP recently. Our LEAP is to give out boiled eggs with smiley faces on them, with which we also attach a note of encouragement. In general, the time of doing the LEAP and its preparation process were fun, though they might take much time, we still enjoyed a lot. Actually there was once a quite disappointing incidents which we encountered during the LEAP. One recipient of the egg said something which was quite mean and sarcastic. This made all of us quite upset, and doubted if what we did was worthwhile. However, this somehow negative feeling was immediately swept away when I saw the happy faces of the other recipients, and what's even more encouraging were the photos which some of them posted on the social networking sites like Facebook, WeChat, Instagram and Weibo. They were posting cute photos of our eggs, captioned with some words of appreciation! These were just like a SHOT in the arm to us! Moreover, I think that this act of posting photos really maximized the outcome of our LEAP. The original purpose of this LEAP was to bring positive energy to the UM community. By posting photos, the recipients were actually sharing the positive energy to even more people in the community, and that's the power of social networking. Aside from the recipients, many other people could feel the happiness which we would like to bring.

By the way, the Johari Window which Dr. Udani introduced to us in class was quite inspiring. I really spent some time on reflecting what were the blind and hidden areas of myself. I was curious about the blind area of myself, because it told something about how people perceive you. Because sometimes, what you really want to convey to others may not be the perception which others receive about you. For example, you might think yourself as a person which is not very confident, but actually in others' eyes, you might actually look very confident.
There are sayings about something like "don't care what others think of you; just be yourself". I think this is something easier to say than to talk, because it is quite difficult to truly not caring about how others think of you, and that's what leading me to wonder the blind side of myself. I think one way of how I can discover about myself is reading the notes my classmates write to me, since many of them did write about how they thought of me. And I'm glad that some really reflect areas which I don't know about myself.
